More About Zoning
The proposed change in zoning of the old hotel property and of the Ambler Estate which adjoin each other on [the east side of] Rowayton Avenue has been delayed due to the zoning commission not being in full attendance this month. A portion of the Board held session Thursday night, March 8th, to debate the question pro and con. Many local residents attended the meeting with the object of voicing their opinion.
The attorney for the Ambler Estate told of their desire to build a group of stores with thirty foot parking space allowed in front of the project. When time permits the land in the rear will be devoted to small homes such as Rowayton could use. Due to the fact that the state has assumed care of Rowayton Avenue and may arrange to widen the street in the near future the Board decided to hold their decision in abeyance. The Chairman promised that the next zoning commission meeting in April will render a final decision. |
