WWII Clamdigger -
July 1945

Back in “Clamtown”

The first draftee to leave "Clamtown" is one of the first to be discharged under the point system. We're referring to Joe "Badger" Morrison, who arriving home last week, after making an extensive tour of Iceland, England, France, Belgium, and Germany. Joe with a total of 112 points, is now just plain "Mister," and says he can hardly believe it. He looks fine, but keeps wondering where all the kids are. He's been away for along time. Among the hundreds of questions asked him was the usual one about fraternizing. Joe had a big grin, and said that it was fine - - and they didn't get caught. It's swell to have you home again, Joe. Welcome back.

Prisoner for Thirteen Months

Newt Wilbur arrived back in this country June 18th after being a prisoner of war in Germany for thirteen months. Newt, a navigator on a B-17, was downed on his third mission. He and Dorothy Ann are spending part of that sixty day leave on the eastern shore of Maryland. Then they are coming to Rowayton for a visit.

Back from Iwo

Joe Georgie arrived in Rowayton Monday afternoon for a thirty day leave. Although he'd called home from California, his father was speechless when he walked in. Joe was wounded in the hand and leg at Iwo. After he left the hospital in the Marshals he headed back for the States.
