March 2009- The moving vans have been unloaded! With renovations complete on the interior, the archives and mementos of the RHS were moved back.
Pictured: Some of our volunteers - brandishing rifles - after a job well done.

April 2009- The following are several photos from our visit to The Raymond Cemetery on Rowayton Avenue. The Cemetery was founded in 1782 by the three sons of Gershom Raymond for their family and friends.
Here is the Smith Family Plot before cleanup.

And here is the same plot once we got our hands dirty!

While many generous people have given their time in the past to help maintain this Revolutionary era cemetery, it is overgrown and sorely neglected. A committee of RHS volunteers formed in the fall of 2008 to do a major cleanup and assessment of the headstones as well as chart the people buried here.

Anyone interested in joining the group is encouraged to contact the RHS. Already several old headstones have been unearthed, and a stone from a New Canaan cemetery found among the debris.
